Dan Louisell - Quadraphonic (December, 2000)
this was my first CD. i'd been trying to finish one since i was
in 9th grade. four short years later, i'd managed to do so. it's more sort of an
experiment though, really, to see what i could and could not do. i really didn't
know how to play guitar yet when i made most of these songs. i played drums
pretty well from school, and could manage the keyboard decently. that's about
it. notice there were other instruments than drums and keyboard. i'm still not
sure if that was a good idea or not. regardless, when this was done, i was so
proud. most of my classmates bought a copy. then, shortly after i finished
"journey through the bubbly musical wonderland," i listened to this cd again.
yuck. "what was i thinking?" i thought to myself. i was ashamed. the singing was
out of tune, it was sloppily edited, what a piece of garbage. my attitude
remained the same for about three years. then i listened to it again when a few
more copies were in demand and i realized how sweet this cd really is! yeah the
songs are stupid, the quality is terrible and a lot of the instrument playing is
less than good, but dammit i put a shit-ton of work into this stupid record and
i'm proud. it was what i could do at the time. i am no longer ashamed.
for the record, the singing is off because i had not yet realized how to listen to previously recorded tracks and record another simultaneously.
